Workshop on HVDC modeling in Power Factory

The workshop aimed at facilitating the exchange of experiences and knowledge regarding point-to-point (P2P) and multi-terminal (MT) HVDC modelling in Power Factory. The workshop will bring together researchers with experience in HVDC modeling and/or use of Power Factory dynamic simulation environment.

Risø DTU (now DTU Wind Energy) was the host of the two days-workshop, on December 15 and 16 2011.

The workshop program combined presentations with hands-on work on developing HVDC models in Power Factory. The list of participants can be seen here.

Torsten Lund, PhD, Senior Grid Planner at Energinet.dk in Denmark gave a presentation about Power Factory and DSL models. The presentation can be seen here.

Temesgen Haileselassie, PhD student at NTNU in Norway gave a presentation about the control of VSC-HVDC for Multi-terminal Operation. The presentation can be seen here.

The outcome of the workshop is a model for multi-terminal HVDC network with DC voltage droop control. The model was developed during the workshop by workshop participants and can be downloaded here. The archive contains the model (version for Power Factory 14.0 and 14.1) and documentation. The model is being published under the terms of the GNU Documentation License.
